From print to thread
The Ambassador started as a sketch and a stubborn idea: a black nylon tracksuit that looked like it belonged to a club you had to earn your way into. Crest on the chest. Script down the sleeves. HONORABLE on one side, SOCIETY on the other. The name wasn't a product name. It was a job description for whoever wears it.
The idea
Spring 2026Every brand has the piece it wants to be known for. For Honorable Society, eight years in, it had to be something you could spot from across a parking lot anywhere in the world. A tracksuit does that. It's a uniform, and uniforms say who you ride with.
The plan was simple on paper. Black shell, white piping, the HS mark and the crest, the wordmark running the full length of each arm and leg. Built for fall, because nobody buys nylon in July.
The samples
Summer 2026The first quote made the math work. Then the samples started coming in, and the math stopped being the problem.
A sample is where a brand finds out what it actually is. Photos lie. Mockups lie. A garment on a hanger under a shop light tells the truth, and the early Ambassador samples kept telling us the same thing: the idea was right and the method was wrong.
Sublimation
The failed routeWe started with sublimation because it's fast and it prints anything. The problem is how it works. Sublimation dye turns to gas and bonds into polyester fibers. It's translucent, so it needs a light base to show up, and it doesn't bond properly with nylon at all.
Put that on a black nylon shell and you get exactly what we got: graphics that looked faded and flat, crests with no edge, and lettering that read like a bootleg. On a white blank it might have passed. On the Ambassador it looked cheap, and cheap is the one thing this brand can't afford to look.
The switch
Embroidery, final sampleSo we stopped printing and started stitching. Embroidery doesn't care what color the fabric is. The thread sits on top of the shell, so white reads white on black, every time. The sleeve script gets an outline you can feel. The crest picks up shadow and depth. The HS mark looks built rather than applied.
Sublimation
- Needs polyester and a light base
- Washed-out color on black
- Flat, no texture
- Reads like a print
Embroidery
- Works on any shell color
- True white on black
- Raised, with depth you can feel
- Reads like a garment worth keeping
It costs more and it takes longer. It was still the easiest decision of the whole build. The close-up at the top of this page is that final sample. That's the one going into production.
What's next
FW26The Ambassador drops this fall as VOL 1. Obsidian Black is the only colorway running past 500 units. Honorable Ivory and Red Resistance come in smaller runs, so those go first. The map above shows who's already waiting: mostly home, with a few flags on the other side of the world. If you saved the post, you're on the list in spirit. Get on it for real at hbsy-galleria.com.
Wear your values.
